In April 1963, Alappuzha, Kerala, received a missile developer. Later she was known as Tessy Thomas (Tessy is the name from the derivative of Tressia). Born in a slightly upper-middle-class family; Her father is a small businessman or an accountant, and her mother was a teacher. When Thomas was 13, her father suffered from a stroke and paralyzed.
Thomas has four sisters and one brother. Her parents ensure that all of their children get proper education and allow them to do whatever they want. They don’t restrict their sibling’s passion. This habit helped Thomas to improve and become a rocket scientist.
People know about Dr A.P.J Abdulkalam, Missile Man of India. Thomas is known for her development in missile research. She joined DRDO in 1988, where she worked and developed the new generation ballistic missile known Agni. Dr APJ appointed her for the Agni project. Later she became the associate director for the Agni-3 project and director for the Agni-4. Agni 3 and 4 achieved their mark in 2008 and 2011, respectively. In 2018, she became the Director-General for the Aeronautical department of DRDO.

For this massive achievement on Missile development, Tessy prized as the Missile Woman of India. She got the Lal Bahadur Shastri Award for her contribution to turning India self-reliant in missile technology.
